Yesterday's guest speakers really brightened my day and put a smile on my face. Hearing about these teens' stories was really incredible. Each of them is so different yet endures many hardships abd critisisms for who they are which isn't fair because like Mrs. Beasley said, "They are all human and have feelings, they are just unable to express them." I loved seeing how passionate Mr. Humphreys' and Mrs. Beasley were about the students and their jobs. I went to elementary school with one of their students, Nicholas, and I remember every time he came into class, I couldn't help the huge smile that crept onto my face. His contagious giggles are beautiful and uplifting, I didn't realize how much I had missed him until then. I think I will be joining Circle of Friends next year, because this talk made me realize how much impact a person can have on an individual with special needs, it's truely incredible.
